Barkworthies Salmon Skin and Cod Skin treats

March was National Nutrition month for us humans, but it is just as important to maintain your pets’ nutrition as well. Alaska (and Oreo) had the chance to test out Barkworthies’ two new all-natural, single ingredient treats that are perfect in supporting optimal nutrition:

Eating in public never looked so good!

The texture is dry, but a bit oily if handled and soft and also chewy. They easily tear into smaller pieces, which makes it very easy to treat Oreo. Alaska on the other hand takes them any way she can get them – whole or in smaller pieces. Alaska took her chew in her mouth and ran to her bed to savor it while Oreo happily munched away on the bite-sized pieces I cut up for him in his bowl. Because of the versatile nature of this treat, you can feed as a chew or a training treat.

“Hand it over hooman and no fingers will be nipped!”

These treats, or chews as I think of them, are packed with beneficial vitamins and minerals such as collagen and Omega-3 fatty acids which can help both dogs and cats maintain a healthy skin and coat. The healthy fats in the fish skins are good for the heart and can help boost immunity.

Our second product was the Barkworthies Salmon Skin Roll-Ups. These thick jerky-like sticks are layers of salmon skin folded together and then dried to perfection, creating a chewy and healthy treat that are as good for your pet as they are delicious. Because they are single-ingredient, they are rich in protein and healthy fats that are good for the heart and can help boost immunity.

“Mmm.. more fishy goodness!”

These roll-up sticks were more crunchy in texture. Because they are thicker than the cod skin fillets, I prefer to break them into smaller square pieces for Alaska and Oreo to enjoy. They also came in a 2-pack so they will last you longer if you break them up and feed intermittently. I think both the kids enjoyed these salmon treats a little better than the cod skins just because of the dense flavor and crunchy texture.

Teasing = drooling 🙂

I normally add fish oil to Alaska’s daily meals, but having the minerals and vitamins from the whole, natural source is a better alternative. Barkworthies has really delivered two great new additions to their line of natural, wholesome dog treats that I highly recommend to any health-conscious pet parent!

Further Thoughts

As a lot of you already know, I absolutely love truly all-natural, limited-ingredient, protein-rich, and unprocessed food and treats for my furry children. I take pride in feeding them the best I can offer them, because their health and nutrition is my foremost priority. I am very pleased to say that Barkworthies is a company that I have come to love and support after having tried a variety of their treats and chews. Both Alaska and Oreo love their products, and I feed them with a guilt-free conscience knowing that I am giving them only the best.
