#TreatThursday: Meaty Lamb Bake Recipe

For this week’s #TreatThursday, I’d like to share one of Alaska’s favorite homemade dog treat recipes- a meaty delicious Lamb Bake that is sure to win your dog over! If your dog is a huge fan of meat, or if you are trying to get him to eat his veggies this recipe is the perfect combination of meat and veggies to give him a boost of healthy, natural nutrition. Not only is it rich in protein from the meat and eggs, but also contains a good amount of fiber and nutrients from the sweet potato and spinach.

Also, if your dog is a picky eater and refuses to eat his regular food, try mixing this meat loaf into his food while you sit back and watch his butt wiggle and tail wag! πŸ™‚

Here is the recipe:

Meaty-licious Lamb Bake

  • 2 cups ground raw lamb
  • handful of spinach, coarsely chopped
  • 2 free range eggs
  • 1 cup cooked mashed sweet potato

  1. Preheat the oven to 370Β°F.
  2. Combine all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl until fully incorporated.
  3. Place the mixture in an oven-proof dish.
  4. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
  5. Let cool completely before serving.
  6. Serve and enjoy!

“Umm.. Is it cake time yet?”

I made this lamb bake for Alaska’s 2nd birthday last year, but the only adjustment was that I kept everything raw except for the sweet potato. The consistency was more moist and thick, but if cooked it would resemble more of a meat loaf. To top it off, I also sprinkled some Clear Conscience Pet SuperGravy and shredded coconut to add to the presentation. It was a huge hit with Alaska, she loved it alone as well asΒ a spoonful mixed with every meal. Needless to say, we will definitely make this again in the near future!

  1. What a great idea to use lamb. I’m pretty sure my cats would be sniffing around the dog bowl! That’s interesting about the spinach. I’ll have to try it. My dog turns his nose up to veggies!

Alaska is one lucky dog! What a cute cake and party decor. πŸ™‚

    1. I used lamb in this recipe, but any choice of protein will do! Lamb is naturally a more fatty protein, but leaner options are chicken and beef.

And thank you, Alaska sure is spoiled! Luckily, she isn’t picky with veggies. Perhaps you can puree fresh veggies and sneak them into your dog’s food. πŸ™‚
